Easter 2026 in Spain: 17 million trips expected and restrictions may impact road transport

As Easter approaches, Spain’s traffic authority (DGT) activates its special operation and expects very high mobility: 17 million trips until Monday, 6 April, including 4.3 million in the first phase (from Friday of Sorrows to Holy Monday).

For companies that rely on road transport (industry, import/export, distribution), this is not just a traffic headline: it means a higher likelihood of congestion, changes in real transit times and, on certain corridors, specific traffic-management measures. During these dates, truck restrictions may also apply on certain roads and time windows—making route and slot planning even more important.

At GMR Global Trans, we manage this with practical planning to protect lead times:

  • We adjust loading/unloading slots and routes in advance to avoid critical stretches and peak hours.
  • We prioritise time-sensitive deliveries and provide realistic alternatives to reduce second runs and waiting time.
  • We coordinate the full chain (pickup–transport–delivery) with active tracking, so customers stay in control even on difficult days.

And as an added value, our logistics base in the Valencian Community keeps us close to local operations, allowing faster reaction when diversions, incidents or last-minute changes occur.

GMR Global Trans: planning and control so Easter doesn’t disrupt your deliveries.
