Customs Clearance Authorization
The customs clearance authorization is a document through which powers of representation are granted to a Customs Representative to carry out various procedures before Customs on behalf of the sender. These procedures may include the presentation of import/export declarations, responding to customs requirements, representation in inspections, among others. There are two types of dispatch authorizations:
- Specific Authorization or Per Operation: Allows the Customs Representative to carry out customs procedures for a single specific operation, with the details of this clearly indicated in the authorization.
- Global Authorization: Allows the Customs Representative to carry out customs procedures for all the sender's operations during a certain period of time (generally indefinitely) and can be valid for all customs offices in the corresponding territory.
It is recommended to work with GLOBAL clearance authorizations, since they provide agility to the Customs Representative and avoid the need to issue individual authorizations for each operation.
The data required in the clearance authorization includes tax information of the sender (name or company name, address, CIF, person signing, EOR) and the data of the designated Customs Representative. The authorization must be signed and sealed by an authorized person of the company, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legal documents.
The telematic dispatch authorization is an option offered by the Tax Agency (AEAT) that allows dispatch authorizations to be granted and revoked electronically. This offers advantages such as ease and speed in the process, as well as the elimination of the use of paper and the need to send original documents.
