Digital working-time tracking in road transport: a new requirement that may impact planning and costs

Digital working-time tracking in road transport: a new requirement that may impact planning and costs

Labour regulation is moving back to the centre of logistics. In recent days, several industry sources have reported that Spain’s Ministry of Labour is fast-tracking a Royal Decree on digital working-time tracking, which could include road transport, requiring a digital time-recording system with online access for Labour Inspection.

For businesses that rely on trucking (industry, import/export, distribution), what matters is not the political debate but the operational impact: as control requirements increase, the need for order, traceability and planning typically increases as well—especially during peak periods and in chains with multiple loading/unloading points.

The sector is asking to avoid duplication with the tachograph and warning about the cost and operational impact if companies are forced to use a “double system” on board.

At GMR Global Trans, we do not treat these changes as paperwork—they are part of the customer service:

  • We strengthen slot planning and coordination of real timings (loading, waiting, unloading) to reduce friction and the “idle time” that ends up increasing costs.
  • We work with a network of partners and carriers with clear procedures, so compliance does not turn into delays.
  • We give customers an “operations under control” approach: less improvisation, more predictability and stronger service continuity.

And as an added value, our logistics base in the Valencian Community keeps us close to day-to-day operations and allows us to react quickly when requirements change or planning needs to be adjusted.

GMR Global Trans: compliance and efficiency so regulation doesn’t slow down your deliveries.
